Sleep

September 25
Colleen and I went to Victoria for the day, and this little man was as grumpy and edgy as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, but he would NOT sleep. By the time we hit the Malahat, he was gone. SO tired.

Toybox Fun

September 24
We came around the corner and found Jacob like this. He'd thrown a bunch of stuff out of the toybox so he could sit in it.

A Big THANK YOU

Goes out to Mandy for Elliot's leftover eye patches! Knowing that Jacob and E have both gone through surgery and been so brave really warms my heart, and this feels like one more thing that ties these two. Mandy's been supportive, even while going through a pretty scary time herself. Having a child that needs to have surgery can be a very frightening experience, but she held up so well, and still was there for me when I wasn't doing so well. Thank you Mandy!

Hi, I'm Deneen!

Welcome to my blog! This is the first Blog Hop I've done.

Now to introduce myself and my family. I've been married to Eric for almost three years, and we have an almost two-year-old son who is our pride and joy, named Jacob. This is my Project 365 blog for Jacob. The plan is to put a picture up for each day of 2009, but life has thrown so much craziness at us. My son Jacob has gone in for two surgeries on his eyes and up until recently, was a regular at BC Children's Hospital. He has been transferred now to a doctor on the Island, so we're really excited. He's a very strong little boy, and we're really proud of him. To read more about his surgeries, click the "surgery" tag. For the Project 365 pics, please click the "project 365" tag.

April Rose.

This makes me SO sad

http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/2009/06/april-rose.html

Why anyone would feel the need to perpetuate such a hoax, I will never understand. I hope, now that this is out in the open, that she might peace within herself and resolve whatever issue she has. It would be so easy to be outraged by all of this, but instead I just feel very, very sad.

A VERY proud moment

May 20

See that picture in the center? I'm the one on the far left. This was a very proud day for me. It was the unveiling of the 2010 Breastfeeding Photo Contest. Myself and the two other women, along with our children, were invited as special guests, having been past winners. We got to meet our MP and everything! It was quite a day.

I'm sooooooooooo cute!

There's no words. This is pure joy.

Eternal Gratitude

May 8
This is the doctor who did Jacob's surgery. His eye looked better less than 24 hours after this surgery than his right eye did, a week after the last surgery. Our experience with this doctor has been night-and-day different than with the last one. Our family is very grateful for that.
This is the day we came home.

He's all right.

Surgery

May 6

It's surgery day! Here's Jacob playing in the Surgical Daycare playroom. He had fun, even though he had to get 16b drops over the span of one hour.

Just cause I like this picture.

In recovery **cry**
I don't think this part of surgery gets any easier, to be honest. At this point, Jacob could barely rouse himself, and it was very frustrating for him. I remember the "hospital smell" that he had, it's one of the smells I dislike the most. My biggest plan was to get him back to the Easter Seal House, and sponge off as much of the smell as I could.

On the Ferry, the day before Jacob's Surgery.

May 5

Having dinner on the ferry, the day before Jacob's surgery. He loves the chicken strips they serve. Here he was having a big conversation with Daddy, which at this point mostly consisted of "bah-boo, mamoo, dahdoo, ba ba ba ba ba BA BA, bayboo, mamamamamamamama!"

Jacob and Amelia

May 3

Jacob and his cousin Amelia. She is one year and ten months older than him, and one pound lighter. It's as I said, Jacob's a tank. Milly just loves him, she has since the day he was born. She's always tried to help me with him, and treats him like he's her little brother.

Pizza, and a close-up

April 29 MMM Pizza!

Alfred Hitchcock and baby book

April 17

Yup, I'm a HUGE fan of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." They just don't make television shows like this anymore.

This is Jacob's FAVORITE book. I've had to "repair" it three times already, haha!

Sleep

Ryland's Birthday

March 21
Jacob just loved playing in the toddler area at Jumpin' Jiminy's

"Mmmm! This is a good...what is this? Oh, it's a hot dog. Well, it's REALLY GOOD!"

You know, I have never seen him eat a cupcake this tidily. He barely had any crumbs on his shirt, and no icing. I was really proud of him!
ETA: He peed in the potty again yesterday!

In Sickness and in Health

Jacob was HORRIBLY sick. He has a sinus and ear infection, which, thanks to the meds, is getting much better.
March 12

At his sickest. He didn't want to be awake, he didn't want to eat. He had a horrible fever, and when he wasn't boiling up, he had chills. He had green sludge pouring out of his nose, and a cough that was so bad it made him throw up, and all he threw up was mucous because he wouldn't eat.

March 13

We'd just given him his second dose of meds. Isn't the difference amazing! He slept 13 hours after the first dose of meds and it was like he was a totally different boy. No fever, no chills, no sludge. He had the cvough, and kept on coughing until he vomited. All that came up was more green sludge, but then the coughing stopped. His appetite is also back, full force.
He was still prone to "nap attacks."

Ooooooh! Backyardigans!
This is another way to tell he's sick. He never sits and watches TV.
Sorry for the mess. He tore apart the living room yesterday, and I've never been so glad to see him make a mess.

March 14

His new cheese face. I have NO idea where he learned it.
